The SPL Mom is the title placed upon the mother of that year's Senior Patrol Leader. The son's position carries with it a lot of responsibility but so does that of his mother. She is tasked with organizing and leading the troop families behind-the-scenes while her son leads the boys at the forefront. She must run or at least help to organize the Family Dinner, the Birthday barbeque, the Saturday Picnic at Horseshoe, and the Troop Auction. It is a largely thankless job which the mothers are burdened with but they take on the task to support their sons.
