An Elongomat or "Line Leader" (this term is no longer used) is an experienced member of the Order of the Arrow that volunteers to help on Ordeal Weekends. His main job is to lead a group of OA candidates, those recently "tapped out" through their Ordeal Weekend. He first meets his group with his assistant on Friday night and checks that each inductee has the correct supplies for the ordeal. After all the activities are done he will deliver the members to a designated open camping spot. At this time, he is temporarily relieved of his leading duty to debrief with other line leaders while his line is left to fend for themselves and survive the night.During the workday he works with his group, if not leading, in their service project.
OA Line Leader is a volunteer effort, and is not recognized by Paoli 1 as a position of responsibility.
